REMEMBERING OUR DAD TODAY APRIL 13TH HIS BIRTHDAY

Photo of Dad.jpg

Brother Bill and our sisters Edwina, Mona, Helen, Maryanne, Matilda and I take a moment to remember our father Malcolm who was born 94 year ago today April 13th, 2020.

At about 16 or 17 years of age dad joined Fiji’s Naval Contingent [he was underage], but he got himself in because he was not going to let his older brother Percy go to war on his own. They were attached to the Royal New Zealand Navy where his age issue was discovered, but he got lucky because his commanding officer allowed him to remain with the crew and they took part in the Solomon’s Campaign during World War II.

When back in Fiji joined the PWD and rose up the rank to Road Supervisor and consequently was posted throughout Fiji, which meant that as kids we ended up going to a whole host of different schools in Ba, Lautoka, Sigatoka, Labasa, Taveuni and Suva. He was also posted to Gau Island and that's where he met Leba Levy and how our sister's Matilda and Maryanne came along.

These two photos I have are of him include one he took with a naval mate, that’s him on the right, and the other picture was taken on Dad’s birthday some time back. Seated in front are our sisters Matilda and Mary Anne, behind them L-R are our Uncle Harry Apted, Dad and Uncle Ted Beddoes, and behind them brother Bill and I.

We remember you today Dad, Lolomas.
